My first assignment is to chose a book and answer questions with my thoughts...
The book I chose was from the series House Of Night. The book is the fifth in the series and is called Hunted.
The first question is just about the author. The author is P.C Cast and Kristin Cast. P.C Cast is a paranormal romance and fantasy award-winning author. She teaches freshmen and sophomores at a very large public school. Kristin is only going to college because she loves education and attending lectures. She has won awards for her poetry, as well as serving as a journalist for her highschool newspaper, and as editor for her highschool magazine. They have written The House of Night series. Which includes 5 books and a new one is coming out. The first is Marked, then comes Betrayed, then Chosen along with Untamed. The latest book was Hunted, coming out on October 27 09 is Tempted.
Hunted is about Vampires. The main character is Zoey Redbird. Her best friend Stevie-Rae did not make the change over and was made into a bloodthirsty type thing... It is up to Zoey to save her humanity. Also she has special powers and is close to her grandmother. Zoey is still fighting between Heath her old human boyfriend, and Eric who recently made the change from fledgling to adult vampire. Zoey is super close to her godess Nyx.
The setting of the book is at House of Night a school for fledglings awaiting the change. It is in Tulsa, Oaklahoma although there are schools all over the world. It takes place mid winter just after Christmas break when all fledglings are called back to school early. The atmosphere is dark and magical. This is created by the erie effect of the immortal who appears out of the ground. Also there is a loving type of feeling in the story because Zoey has to chose between Eric, and Heath. The two boys who are literally fighting over her.
Zoey Redbird is the main character/antagonist. She was changed into a fledgling in the first book Marked. She was technically saved by being "changed." She is gifted by the godess Nyx. She becomes "Marked" by saphire tattoos. Something only special adult vampires get. Fledglings are only given an outline of a cresent moon. Her moon gets filled in before she is changed. Everytime she serves her godess right she gets a new tattoo. She becomes the high priestess in training. Which is a real honor for someone. It also comes with a HUGE responsibility. A trait Zoey carries throughout is leadership. I think this is something she does well because, in every situation she always takes charge and insures her friends are safe. In Hunted she must insure everyone stays underground. Kolona is an immortal angel. He was trapped by the maidens of the aboriginals. He belives Zoey is the maiden that they created out of the earth and goes after her. They are forced underground, so they take shelter in the tunnels the "red fledglings" have been living in. She makes Kolona fleed along with Neferet who is suposed to be the current high priestess but is lacking responsibilities and no longer listens to her godess. Another trait Zoey has is being helpful helpful, I belive this because; she helped Stevie-Rae get her humanity back. which saved her. She helped Aphrodite by beliving in her when no one else did, what I mean is Aphrodite was caught cheating and everyone found out she was a B*tch. No other words to put it sorry. She also helped Stark, by listening to his story. Also by kissing him/ making out with him before he died. Except he didn't die he was made into a red fledgling.
Well we are suposed to right about our thoughts so far on the book except I finished it already so yeah... I really enjoyed it, because it includes two amazing genres: Romance and Fantasy. It is an awesome book/series and I recomend anyone and everyone to try reading it... But beware... IT IS VERY ADDICTING!
